Valeria holds a degree in language and culture mediation, and a master's degree in technical and scientific translation from Libera Università degli Studi “San Pio V” in Rome. Her final dissertation was titled "Adoption of CMMI to the GILT industry: benefits and prospects for the language service providers." Valeria took part in the localization of Business Card Designer Plus as a project manager, which made her develop a passion for process-orientende translation. At present she is project manager for ILT Group in Italy and collaborates with Renato Beninatto and Donald A. De Palma of Common Sense Advisory in a research project.

Eduardo Chacon

Eduardo Chacón is the Localisation Manager for Lexcelera, an ISO-certified translation agency based in Paris. Since 2006 Eduardo has been taking part in the development of integrated solutions for Lexcelera, including the customization of its ERP, the implementation of CAT tools and processes to increase productivity and quality and most recently, the use of Machine Translation for some of its clients.

Benoit Desjardins

Benoit Desjardins started his career as a professional translator in a translation agency, to quickly move to management positions including project manager, operations manager and VP Operations, where he identified the needs for management tools suited to the translation industry and lack thereof. In 1995, he initiated a development project which results went a long way. In 2001, Mr. Desjardins started Beetext, an independent software development company specialized in project efficiency solutions for the language industry.

Bob Donaldson

Donaldson manages McElroy’s pioneering Glocal initiative, developing strategic alliances with technology, language and services partners worldwide to offer the most comprehensive language services in the industry. Before joining McElroy in early 2007, Donaldson spent several years as an independent IT strategy and project management consultant, helping companies in many industries define and implement a strategic technology roadmap. He has more than 25 years of experience in creative technology application and has held executive management positions in a number of technology-oriented companies. He also brings an educational background in Slavic Linguistics, six years of experience as an army Russian linguist and some experience as a freelance translator to his current position, giving him a unique combination of technology and industry-insider perspectives.

Gábor Faragó

Gábor Faragó is a translation technology architect at e-spell IT Translation & Localisation Ltd. and has 18 years freelance IT/technical translation & proofreading experience. Originally he was a system programmer at MTA SZTAKI. He was working for Oracle Central Europe and Oracle Hungary as a localisation project manager for 2 years. As general manager and translation manager of iTeam Tranalsations Ltd. (a specialized IT translation/localization SLV) he was a reliable partner of Oracle, Microsoft, Intel, Cisco, Motorola, Nokia, Sony Ericsson, Sun, 3M, Avaya and Axelero. Besides of dealing with translation/localization project management and quality assurance, Gábor is responsible for translator/editor training at e-spell IT Translation and Localisation Ltd.

Daniel Goldschmidt

As a senior software engineer and a professional in the globalization of software and content field, Daniel Goldschmidt has extensive experience in the internationalization and localization of large-scale enterprise applications and projects. Independently as well as through his association with Localization Flow Technologies, Daniel provides his client base with internationalization and localization expertise. He has recently served as a senior software engineer in the Google Internationalization Team, working on the Google Localization Framework. He holds a BS in computer sciences and mathematics and a MS in computer sciences, both from the Hebrew University, Jerusalem.

Doug Lawrence

Doug Lawrence BSc. Hons., MBA, is the Managing Director and founder of Amicus TransTec Limited, a UK based supplier of professional translation software. Lawrence is the creator of the international successful Selling Translations(TM) sales training program for translation companies and freelancer translators. Lawrence is a veteran of the translation industry having worked for leading translation companies and Trados.

Madeleine Lenker

Madeleine studied at Cologne University of Applied Sciences in Germany and is an accredited English-German translator. She owned a Masters degree in Terminology and Language Engineering from the same university and began working in localization and translation industry. Madeleine is currently doing her Ph.D. in Workflow Specifications for Enterprise Localization at Localization Research Center (University of Limerick/Ireland).

Juliet Macan

Born in Malta of Irish parents, Juliet Macan was educated in England. After working for fifteen years as a freelance translator in Italy, in 1991 she joined Intracoop, a Language Service Provider, as a senior language consultant. Here she also gained experience as a project manager for special projects and in 1994 had her first encounter with a CAT tool, IBM Translation Manager, then Trados and DejaVu, two program commonly used by those freelancers who embraced the new technology. In 1999, she became Translation Tools Manager of the new company Ic.doc, with a strong emphasis on technology. Since then she has been responsible for ensuring the optimum use of TEnT by the company, training of in-house staff and external freelancers, evaluation of new projects, problem-solving and the testing of new tools. This involved the testing of SLDX, Multitrans, across, MemoQ and following their developments.

Douglas McCarthy

Douglas McCarthy is a professional linguist, translator, editor, author and founder of Open Globe, a translation and technical writing company. He helps companies, organizations and individuals express their unique value and brand in order to highlight their differences from their competitors or emulators. In a globalized economy, companies, organizations and individuals need to communicate their identity as clearly as possible in all languages they work in. They need to be aware of subliminal messages arising from inconsistencies or lack of clarity. These undesirable messages detract from their efforts in getting their message across. Douglas' parallel interest in classical music in general and singing in particular give him the ability to combine attention to detail with a clear conception of the larger picture.
Douglas' major project for 2009 is a book on the neglected side of globalization: publishing your organization's documents in many languages.

Philip McConnell

Philip McConnell joined LTC as Head of Software Engineering in March 2009. Philip has a MBA and an honours degree in Computer Science. Over his 25+ year career to date Philip has held several senior IT executive roles for global service companies and has extensive experience in the management of Information Technology services and change management for multinational organisations in the UK and Europe He has used his strong commercial and organisational skills effectively to deliver tangible results for business start-ups and reorganisations; successfully manage major programmes and turn around business units.

Tomasz Mróz

Tomasz Mróz is Sales Director in XTRF TMS since 2006. A Polish National, Tomasz has a Master Degree in Economics from Cracow University of Economics. He has gained wide experience in different fields of activities including media and telecommunication. Right now he is responsible for the sales and development of XTRF TMS software, being a key player on the Translation Management Systems Market.

Luigi Muzii

Luigi Muzii has been working in the language industry for 27 years as a translator, localizer, technical writer and consultant. He spent 12 years in several departments of a major Italian telecommunications company, and two in a broadcasting service company, then started a consulting firm on his own to act as an information design and delivery consultant. He is visiting professor of terminology and localization at Libera Università degli Studi “S. Pio V” in Rome, and the author of a book on technical writing, and many papers and articles. He has been one of the founders of the Italian association for terminology and of Gruppo L10N.

Carsten Peters

Daniel Rejtö

Since 2007, Daniel Rejtö is the Marketing and Communication Manager at Plunet in Berlin. Rejtö has a degree in Media Management and Journalism from the University of Wilhelmshaven, Germany. With more than five years of experience in the field of integrated communication and brand development, Rejtö is an expert in successful business and marketing consulting of trademark and software companies. He is also responsible for the fast growing partner program at Plunet.

Peter Reynolds

Peter Reynolds is CEO and translation management consultant at TM-Global/ MAart. An Irish national based in Warsaw, Peter holds an BSc and an MBA degree from Open University and is a localization and translation industry veteran. Prior to MAart he worked at Idiom Technologies Inc.(now SDL PLC). As director of the LSP Partner Program at Idiom, Peter was responsible for making its global LSP partners program a successful and innovative venture. Before Idiom he worked on language technology development for global localization companies: Lionbridge, Bowne Global Solutions and Berlitz GlobalNet. While there, he managed the Dublin development team responsible for BerlitzIT, Elcano, Freeway 2.0 technology solutions and internal project and vendor management tools. Peter has been actively involved — in the development and promotion of standards (notably XLIFF) for more than ten years — mostly at OASIS. Until 2008 (when XLIFF was published) he was secretary of the XLIFF Technical Committee at OASIS and chaired the Translation Web Services TC. He is currently involved in OASIS, TILP as well as being the Irish expert to ISO SC2 and SC4 and training auditors for the EN 15038 standard.

Arabella Rosati

Arabella holds a degree in language and culture mediation from University of Perugia, and a master's degree in technical and scientific translation from Libera Università degli Studi “San Pio V” in Rome. Her final dissertation was titled "Application of the best practices of CMMI in translation: the point of view of a translator". At present she works as in-house freelance translator for a major Italian TSP and collaborates with Renato Beninatto and Donald A. De Palma of Common Sense Advisory in a research project. She has a special interest in investigating common trends in the GILT industry.

Angela Starkmann

Angela Starkmann is an independent project manager, translator, and trainer with particular interest in life science. She has worked as linguist and project manager on the customer side (Medtronic) as well as on the service provider side. Angela lives with her family on the country side in Bavaria, and loves the combination of quiet village life and work in the international fast-paced localization industry.

Jost Zetzsche

Jost is an ATA-accredited English-German translator, a localization and translation consultant, and a widely published author of books and articles on technical aspects of translation. A native of Hamburg, Germany, he earned a Ph.D. in the field of Chinese translation history and linguistics, and began working in localization and technical translation in 1997. In 1999, he co-founded International Writers’ Group on the Oregon coast. In 2005 he launched TM Marketplace, a company that licenses translation memories between translation buyers. He launched TranslatorsTraining.com website, that offers in-depth comparisons of translation tools.

Balázs Kis

Balázs holds a degree in IT engineering (Technical University of Budapest) and is about to earn his PhD in Applied linguistics (translation technologies; University of Pécs). He started his career as a certified Microsoft systems engineer and trainer (MCSE, MCT), and was active as one of the most prominent trainers until 2002. He also works as a technical author: he has published more than 10 books on advanced Windows technologies and language technology, which made him the best-selling Hungarian IT author to date. Besides Kilgray, he also participates in running the family-owned publishing company SZAK, where he oversees translation and publishing projects. In 1997, he joined MorphoLogic first as a system administrator and later became the head of research, contributing to many language technology projects on machine translation, content analysis and information extraction. He left MorphoLogic in early 2005 to work for Kilgray. He is also teaching translation technology at the ELTE University of Budapest.

Gábor Ugray

Gábor is Kilgray’s ‘Renaissance man’ with a mix of interests ranging from linguistics and computer science to photography and translation. He was previously head of development for MorphoLogic’s machine translation solution, in charge of a team of five linguists and developers. He reversed gears and shifted from MT to TM when partnering up with Balázs and István to establish Kilgray. His role in the company is essentially one of a translator: he makes sure Kilgray’s dreams of look and feel are solidified into lines of formal code, and poses those hated down-to-earth technical questions to the dreamers. He won’t stop at talking bytes, and has been diligently learning his bit of Chinese for years.
