The overall objective of the presentation is to show the translator`s work in a diachronic perspective. More particularly, the aim is then to exemplify the advantages and disadvantages of being a translator within centuries so as to prepare good courses on translation for specific purposes nowadays as well as provide trainee translators with a useful knowledge of the tactics of target text production. What is more, the presentation refers to the aspect of modern technology such as CAT programs, in particular memoQ, which facilitate the translator`s activities.
